Structure
Steel structural skeleton:
Mild steel tube frame with plate gussets and sleeve and/or flange joints between structural units. Structure is assembled in several discrete units and anchored to the ground at minimum five points; one at the head, two at the forearms, two at the back end of the thoracic chamber. From lower jaw through thorax, the body’s underside is open, inviting participants to walk through and/or to walk into the body.
Forearms:
The Chimera’s powerful forearms are structural members, adorned with curved and interwoven steel musculature, which support the thorax from near its tallest point. Each of these is flange-mounted to the structural skeleton of the Chimera at the shoulder. The upper and lower arm sections are each ca. 8’ long. Its double-toed feet hide the structural connection to the ground and will feature late night lights to prevent the inevitable tripping factor for trippers.
