Light and Fire Features
To create a mythical being that is not just a static statue we are incorporating a varitety of light and fire effect that will create an overall sense that Chimera is a living presence.
Flame Effects
Chimera has ambient propane flame effects down its spine and in the tips of its head’s tusks. These ambient flames run from dusk until early morning, illuminating the form and imbuing it with liveliness.
Breathing Spine:
Chimera’s spine is topped with a propane flame effect which illuminates and completes a dinosaur-like array of fins or spikes beginning behind the head and ending at the base of the thorax. Propane jets pointing upward from the spine are fed with supplemental air jets in a regular rhythm, creating an alternating brighter, more yellow flame, and a smaller, bluer one. This slow pulsing rhythm is synchronous with the gently “breathing” movement in the thorax’s skin panels.
Glowing, Poofing Tusks:
Each of the Chimera’s two foremost tusks are tipped with a persistent propane-fueled flame. Occasional soft “poofs” of supplementary propane flame further animate the ‘Bug. This flame effect is below Hippie Head Height and will be carefully monitored for participant safety. Controls for the poofing will be shared with participants. The accumulation vessels for each of these will be contained in the Chimera’s jaw and feature readily accessible shutoff valves.
Plumbing plan:
1/4″ propane hose from tanks in the fuel depot thru the underground trench, up the tail, along lower structural pipe to jaw area. Same can be done for power lines. Cramer Decker high pressure propane hose 1/4IDUL 70 cents/ft.
