Conceptual Framework
It is driving us towards a new perception of ourselves; a new sense of purpose; a new way of being. We are being forced to awaken from our dream. – Peter Russell
The exact path of evolution is tricky to follow in detail. The causes of recent evolution include both biological and cultural factors, often the two become intertwined as biocultural effects. Specifically, the genesis behind human evolution involves the creative products of emotion and imagination, qualities which are virtually impossible to define quantitatively but none the less will be a part of the next evolutionary leap. We drag our whole evolutionary history with us as conscious beings. Starting from the primordial pool of evolutionary ooze to our present day physicality. An obvious thought crosses ones mind, where do we go next? Nature is wonderfully chaotic, making the ability to know the next DNA mutation impossible. But one still ponders and dreams, questioning what will be the next step? What will lead us into the future, our DNA or our minds? Is change rooted only in the physical body or could it happen in the mind. Is the next evolutionary step an evolution beyond ego?
Chimera is the reckoning of these questions. This mythical “primordial” critter, crawling out of prehistoric ooze, drawn forward by the powerful dreams and visions which inflate its mind and inspire its progress. For the first time, we have the chance to take charge of our evolution, to guide it consciously forward. This is our great task at this time in history, to take this next step forward with social consciousness. We are in a constant process of evolution and transformation. This project is an imagining of the possibility of this biocultural transformation. Natural evolution of consciousness is what nature does. It evolves from single cell to multi-cell to animal to human to…. This has been happening for thousands of years. Our sense of hope is we as species are gestating within our own hearts a more empathetic, holistically centered consciousness. It’s not a new religion. It’s a new emerging mind. It has been growing for a long, long time and has the potential to bring forth this a new evolution, an idea of “connectedness.”
When a seed — or an animal — or a man is ripe, it must mature to its next phase. Or rot. – Stewart Edward White
